Muriel Vinshaw

This character is dead.

Muriel grew up in Vallaki to a family of poor carpenters who worked for Vargas Vallakovich. It was rumored that her grandfather was Vistani, which she was often teased by other kids for, and she got in many fights as a child defending her lineage. She developed a friendship with the popular Danika Dorakova, who taught her how to fight and hunt, and the two became close when Danika's parents were killed on a hunting trip. After time, Muriel noticed a change in her best friend, and began investigating Danika's secret trysts with new owner of the Blue Water Inn, Urwin Martikov. Muriel accidentally learned the secrets of the Keepers of the Feather, and, facing little other options, Danika invited Muriel to join them.

She was voluntarily infected with Lycanthropy, barely surviving the disease after being bedridden for months, but emerged as a full Wereraven. Her talent at being at the right place at the right time lead her to becoming a trusted spy within the organization. Muriel had a knack for survival out in the wilds of Barovia, and was uncommonly gifted with a crossbow. As such, she often volunteered to take on Urwin's most dangerous spying tasks. She successfully surveyed Castle Ravenloft's exterior, investigated the undead-ridden Argynvostholt, and became stationed at Berez once it was clear that it as the home of the Raven-murdering Scarecrows that were sweeping the valley.

Over the years, Muriel became even more of a ranger than Danika, opting for fur cloaks, rough leathers, and long waits between baths. She was generally quiet and blunt, usually letting Danika do the talking for her, but was reliable and quite protective of the people she grew close to. These traits lead to a kinship with Laszlo Lazarescu, another Keeper of the Feather who was inducted after surviving lycanthropy.
