Urwin Martikov

Operating out of the Blue Water Inn in Vallaki, Urwin was born into the Martikov family operating the Wizard of Wines. With a practical mind strong in logistics and bookkeeping, he grew up under the tutelage of his older brother Adrian Martikov and his difficult father Davian Martikov. As he was prone to speaking his opinion without restraint, he often got into fights with his father, who demanded constant respect as an elder. Urwin mostly handled operations as he got older, and the rest of the family handled deliveries or fieldwork for the Keepers of the Feather as he took maintained the of the winery's logistics.

In the year 725, Urwin was alone handling the winery when an attack occurred. One of the vineyard's prized three Stones of Plant Growth were stolen in the assault, lowering the soil quality and abundance of varietals. When the elder Martikovs returned, Urwin refused to give details on what happened to his family, which soured his already-poor relationship with his father. Some members of the Keepers suspected that Urwin had something to do with the missing stone, an idea that he denied vehemently.

In truth, Urwin had not stayed at the winery to defend it; he had flown to Vallaki on a mission of his own, attempting to scout the authoritarian town could act as a viable base for the spy network. Mortified at the loss his brashness had caused his family but determined that he was still in the right, Urwin doubled down. He refused to tell the truth of his mistake, but Davian refused to give in, and his relationship with his father eventually collapsed entirely. Urwin moved east to Vallaki, purchasing the Blue Water Inn from its previous owner.

Now closer to Castle Ravenloft than the rest of his family, he acted as the Spymaster of the Keepers of the Feather in the eastern portion of the valley, leaving the west to his father. Given the totalitarian nature of Vallaki under the rule of Vargas Vallakovich, he had a suspicious nature towards many patrons of his tavern, and was untrusting of strangers. Despite this, he eventually fell in love with the young Danika Dorakova, and the two were wed in front of the Martikov and Dorakov families; Davian did not attend the ceremony. He maintained contact with the rest of the family through Adrian, and eventually sired two boys, Bray and Brom.

As with all members of the society, Urwin was a Wereraven, though he obtained his Lycanthropy hereditarily, rather than being infected with the disease. He passed this condition to his wife willingly, and trained both his boys how to handle their condition from a young age. He was responsible for inducting other Keepers, including his ally Laszlo Lazarescu and Danika's close friend Muriel Vinshaw, and bore the weight of responsibility if they did not survive the infection or betrayed the group.

As a tavern owner, he was somewhat affable but was unaccustomed to socializing with townsfolk, so after he successfully courted Danika into the Keepers, he relied on her to be the "face" of the organization. He mostly managed the meal preparation and day-to-day operations of the inn, leaving his wife to serve patrons. Despite their broken relationship, he still recognized his father as the patriarch of the Keepers, and relied on his wine to keep his business open and less suspicious.
