Davian Martikov

Known disparagingly as the "old crow" of the Martikov family, Davian was the Wereraven patriarch of the Keepers of the Feather and possessed an extremely dour temperament. As the leader of valley's most influential secret society, he was responsible for the Wizard of Wines and its production across Barovia, a task which weighed heavily on him. His wife passed away early as they began their family, and Davian became increasingly irritable and temperamental towards his kin, finding it easier to run the family through fear rather than compassion.

Though they had four children, Davian primarily trained the responsibilities of running the Keepers to his oldest and middle sons, Adrian and Urwin. The confident and social Adrian had good leadership capabilities, but was optimistic and trusting of others, a trait that Davian tried to beat out of him. Urwin, meanwhile, possessed a sharp mind but was frank in speech, causing constant fights between father and son.

In the year 725, Davian returned from a mission to find that the Wizard of Wines had been robbed of one of its most important artifacts, a blue Gemstone of Life Growth that gave fertility to the soil. The winery had been under the watch of Urwin, who refused to give details about how the stone was stolen. This caused a further divide between the two, and Davian began suspecting that Urwin had stolen the item; eventually their relationship fractured to the point that Urwin moved east to Vallaki, cutting his father out of his life entirely.

Urwin ended up purchasing the Blue Water Inn and maintained contact through Adrian, as the family continued to sell wine to the inn, and set up a spy network east of Vallaki. Despite his success on his own, Davian did not attend his son's wedding to Danika Dorakova. He grew increasingly ornery and reclusive, eventually picking up the Raven-like habit of adorning himself with shiny objects.
