An Unseelie Archfey that had long been trapped in the lands of the Zarovich Valley and its surrounding Balinok Mountains, The Weaver was a member of the Ladies Three. The sister of The Seeker and The Huntress, the "Lady of the Swamp" was thought to have control over the valley's waterways, though her magical abilities in the Prime Material were miniscule compared to their splendor in the Vivid Realms. The details of her wayshadowing was unknown, even to herself, but her transport to the valley was likely facilitated by the Azure Paragon.
The Lady of the Swamp was worshipped by the local Mortalkind of the Berez lowlands, and delighted in this adoration. Her cult built the Swamp Fane in her honor across the Luna River, adorned with Spiders and Snakes. This binding led the swamp-folk, Druids, and Barbarians to worship her even when the religion of the Morninglord outgrew the Ladies' popularity in the townships of the valley.
Her likeness would appear in dreamlike visions to the locals, and she would reward those friendly to her: for instance, alongside her sisters, she gave a Gemstone of Life Growth to the Martikov family. In exchange for charms and demonstration of will, The Weaver gave arcane power and formed covens of magic in the swamps. They believed the Ladies controlled the world's destiny, and The Weaver was thought to hold domain over the past, weaving souls and truth into time.
After the Wedding That Never Was, Strahd von Zarovich became a Darklord, and turned the valley into his domain of Barovia. Though they had been transported to the Shadowfell, the Ladies positioned themselves to remain neutral, as they always had. The Weaver was diplomatic in her relations with Strahd, even after the Desecration Of The Mountain Fane, and he largely paid her and her covens no mind.
However, after the Count caused the Flooding Of Berez, the swollen Luna River engulfed many of her followers. The Lady of the Swamp Cursed Strahd to never find happiness in an incarnation of Tatyana Federovna, and for this transgression, he hunted her. She attempted to avoid his wrath, but after a few years, the Vampire lord eventually the Weaver in the Ethereal Border. He skewered her, and with knowledge of cursed magic gained from the Amber Temple, he performed a ritual that left her fane untethered in the Ethereal. Using The Weaver's own blood for the rite, he completed the Desecration Of The Swamp Fane.
Despite the Desecration and the removal of her much of her power, the Lady was still an unkillable archfey, tied to the land itself. Now out of contact with her sisters, she created an avatar to walk the lands above, living a small life absent of her former power. She became "Zhenia Grantetkin", the crazed proprietor of Jeny's Stuttering Shack. Only ever offering her services north of Lake Zarovich, the witch grew into something of a folk tale in Vallaki, as it was rare for anyone to make the dangerous trek north.
Rarely seen by locals, rumors spread that Zhenia was a Hag who stole children in the night, and her name was morphed over time to "Jeny Greenteeth"; similar rumours spoke of a "Mad Mage of Mount Baratok", though few knew they referred to the same person. Still fearing Strahd, her shack would shift magically around the south of Mount Baratok, which, in combination with Barovia's mists, made her location hard to find even for those bearing the Mark of Strahd. She became a friend of the Martikov family, as her remote and ever-shifting location made visits difficult for those without wings.
