Snurrevin Silthammer

A Dark Dwarf forgemaster of Thuldûmkarak, Snurrevin was well-respected amongst his small clan for his metalworking and knowledge of Dragons. Capable of producing Masterwork Weapons and wise to the ways of the Middledark, he was considered the right-hand man of their chief Nimira Blastringer and often advised her on any important decisions. Life in the Underdark was perilous for their clan, and Snurrevin sought a better solution than constantly losing members to Dark Elf and other threats. When he heard the tales of the legendary weapons forged by Durgeddin Stonehammer, he convinced Nimira to accompany a small team to find Khundrukar and study the ancient smith's ways.

The team's scout, Ghared Drenchglove, was eventually able to find a hidden entrance behind a waterfall under the Stone Tooth. It lead to the Black Lake, and their crew of six went up the chain ladder into the cursed halls of Khundrukar's foundry. Assaulted by undead, including the Ghost of Arundil Dhaldohr, they abandoned the dwarf-halls but were disappointed to find the door to the Glitterhame was locked. Furthermore, everything of value in the areas accessible to them had been raided. The team turned to leave, but found that the young Black Dragon had re-entered the Black Lake; by chance, she had been out hunting when the duergar had first arrived.

Locked from going forward, fearing the northern halls, and also in danger of going back, the duergar were stuck. With a few month's worth of rations, they decided to attempt to leave by slaying the dragon: to do so, Snurrevin proposed they attempt to forge a weapon capable of destroying the beast. Though he and his two smiths worked relentlessly at the forge, but could not successfully produce a Dragon Slayer as they lacked the proper materials. Snurrevin continually spied on the dragon, and learned from its Troglodyte worshippers that she was named "Nightscale"; he considered overcoming her to be the greatest challenge of his life.
