In Curse Of Strahd, Shakti and Jarmo were sent to fulfill a prophecy by Shakti's mother Ylyana, and were secretly joined by her half-brother, Ghalwin. During this adventure, they came up with the Pack's name, a representation of their closeness as well as a nod to Shakti's Lycanthropic background. Early on, Ghalwin's Riding Horse Snickerdoodle was killed as they were visited by Barovia's Darklord Strahd von Zarovich, setting a tone of an adventure rife with chaos and loss.
The Pack were accompanied by the object of Strahd's obsession, Ireena Kolyana, and in their travels, she and Jarmo fell in love. Strahd learned this fact in the Feast of Saint Andral's, and kidnapped Ireena while removing Jarmo's Dreamweave Circlet, leaving him to be petrified by his Curse. During the carnage, Ghalwin and Shakti found solace in Atlas Atruvian, and the three continued their mission to free Barovia. They would find and be joined by the monster slayer Rudolph van Richten, and were briefly thought to be arbiters of hope, achieving more than any adventuring party in living memory.
However, despite defeating great enemies, making powerful allies, and adopting virtually every helpful Beast they could find, but ultimately met an untimely end. After causing the Riots Of The Blazing Sun, the Pack traveled to Berez to rescue their friend Muriel Vinshaw, ignoring warnings from the Dark Powers they had made contact with. There, they were overwhelmed by the power of Lysaga Verboczy; only Ghalwin and a handful of their animal companions survived the disastrous encounter, though the Paladin would live to help form the Heralds of Dawn.
