Lazarus of Khazalet

One of a few Synthborn prototypes made by Durgeddin Stonehammer and Arundil Dhaldohr, Lazarus was another failed attempt at replicating the magic of the legendary Thrakûr-Gundak. An experimental living construct made of mostly metal, Lazarus was also patched with wood where metal was scarce. He was not fully completed before the end of the Smith's War, and lay dormant for many years in Khundrukar; eventually, he came online believing that he was still mid-siege, and immediately slipped into a fast ravine, which took him through the Black Lake to outside the Stone Tooth. He somehow stayed alive, partially due to him not needing oxygen, but lost all memory of his making.

Once he gained enough power to again come online, he stumbled southward to civilization. He had no memory of how he woke up or what he intended, but on the back of Lazarus's neck was the smith-mark of Durgeddin, his only proof of connection to his dwarven heritage. He spent most of his time in the trading town of Khazalet, but was feared by many due to his size and lack of social skills. He was able to survive as a mercenary, as despite being unschooled, Lazarus was programmed with an innate mastery of armor and weapons. Relying at first on sheer physical advantage, he developed the skills of a Barbarian berserker, channeling an innate drive to destroy any hostile creature that was not a Dwarf.

His programming as a fully-intellectual being, however, was clearly underdeveloped. Lazarus was unable to comprehend that he was not a dwarf, completely blanking whenever the subject was brought up. Additionally, he was unable to conceive that any threat to him was not an Orc, such was Duregeddin's single-minded hatred when forging him. He resultantly simply added modifiers when speaking about threats, such as calling a Dire Wolf a "hairy orc" or a Stirge a "flying orc". This made him a popular figure at the Roc's Nest adventuring guild, where other mercenaries found him equally entertaining and irritating.
