In Curse Of Strahd, Qiphir's body was found by the Heralds of Dawn, with his Ghost being unable to pass on due to the confusion of his death. Ghalwin of the Golden Hart presented Ipniani's Masterwork morningstar to him, and in recognition, he was able to pass, on, giving warnings about the Icon of Ravenloft and granting blessing for him to wield his Mace of Terror.
Qiphir Harized (translated literally to "Surge Bloodburn" in Scycaen, though name-meanings were more symbolic in that language) was a native of Scil-Mirozhae, but largely stayed away from public life. He was born into an underground cult dedicated to Ixhis, and was trained to become a scion of the dark goddess. Adorning himself in skulls, Qiphir became a capable Death Cleric as the decades passed, but he sought to leave his cult and experience the world, spreading Ixhis' will through more practical means.
On such a sojourn, he was approached by the Wizard Jassarian Sala-zan, and joined a team with the Rogue Yenduza Yunae-Maqem, and a powerful Paladin of Thestus, Oxoryn Ipniani. The four went on several dangerous quests in the northern Crowncrests and the Sea of Clouds. During this time, they defeated an Ogre who kept control of his tribe with a Mace of Terror; Qiphir would later wield this mace with impunity, causing terror amongst random populations and creating discord amongst his party.
The last of such adventures occurred when they met a traveling Vistani caravan who requested their help on behalf of Kolyan Indirovich. Qiphir and the party followed Arrigal to Barovia, only to find that Kolyan was long dead; their Vistana guide then disappeared into the mists, leaving them trapped in the demiplane of the Plane of Shadow. The adventurers were experienced and powerful, however, and easily cleared the Death House after being lured in by Rose and Thornboldt Durst, then made contact with the current burgomaster, Ismark Kolyanovich.
Ismark convinced the adventurers to hunt and kill the dread lord of Barovia, Strahd von Zarovich, as revenge for "killing" his sister Ireena Kolyana. However, they group did not make it far before disaster; seeking to avoid contact with any Vistani, they headed straight for the Black Carriage Crossroads, where Strahd invited them to dinner at Castle Ravenloft. He tormented them in the castle, scrambling the party. Qihpir would end up running to chapel of the Morninglord, where he found an icon that he believed would protect him from the Vampire. However, he was deemed evil by the Icon of Ravenloft, and a surge of radiant energy killed him immediately.
