Lola Windwisper

The Crossborn daughter of an unknown Elf from the Taurë Elenomanyar and a Human mother in Oldoan, Lola Windwisper was raised in the mostly-Human city. She grew up not fully welcomed by her peers, but even that childhood would quickly come to an end when her mother passed from sudden illness. Seemingly unwanted by both the humans of the city and the elves of the forest, the orphaned girl began to live in the borderlands between.

Most would perish in such circumstances, but Lola found that she had a gift of natural Spellcraft, able to use enough minor natural magic to survive despite a lack of trained skill. She subsisted this way until she experienced a fateful encounter in the woods with the powerful spellcaster Vermhaxaandes Sharhydrox. The Gold Dragonborn witnessed Lola speak to a forest Owl as though she were speaking Common; already looking to train promising young Adventurers, he took Lola in as a vassal.

Over years, Hydrox taught her the fundamentals of spellcasting, but also more-specific books on Wildshape, how to move in armor and speak Druidic. Through his guidance as well as counseling from elven spellcasters of the woodlands, Lola became a fledgling Druid herself. Now considering her an able adventurer, he introduced her to two urchin twins, Valori and VesperWith similar experiences in their upbringings, the three got on well, forming a sort of unexpected sisterhood. In this period, Lola taught Vesper minor nature magics and survival skills, and taught Vesper how to move in armor and properly utilize shields. As the three advanced, Hydrox gifted them Riding Horses from his stock; Lola would gain Biscuit, and form a deep druidic connection with the horse.

Eventually, the retinue was joined by another recruit, the ancient Angelborn Auberon who had recently obtained powers as a Sorcerer. At Hydrox's behest, they officially formed the Vermin, an adventuring party based out of the old Umlian Church. The dragonborn, who had always regularly left on secret missions unknown to the Vermin, became an increasingly rare sight in the ghost town of Umli. He returned extremely infrequently, but typically came back to guide them on quests, test their skills, or send them on seemingly-random missions.

In her adventures that followed her training, Lola would acquire wealth and interesting items such as a Cloak of Billowing and a Medallion of Thoughts, allowing her to bypass her difficulties in conversations. However, she could not fully bring herself to trust Auberon, and was always keenly aware that Vesper and Valori would never consider her a true sister, as they did the other. Still unaccustomed to wider society and feeling herself an outsider amongst the Vermin, Lola tended to keep to herself, forming friends with small and unintelligent beasts. She carried many over the years, but her favorite was Birdie, a cute and cowardly Rat who she kept safe beneath her armor.
